Self-similar decay of two-dimensional turbulence

Recent numerical simulations [Chasnov, Phys. Fluids 9, 1997] of decaying two-dimensional homogeneous turbulence at high Reynolds numbers have exhibited an approximate self-similar evolution of the energy spectrum. We analyze here the theoretical implications of self-similarity.
